10 Ways To Utilize Tread Lightly! to Help Educate the Public in Responsible Recreation
1. BECOME A TREAD TRAINER The Tread Trainer program is designed to train participants in innovative, practical methods of spreading outdoor ethics to the public with a curriculum specifically focused on motorized and mechanized recreation.
Once a participant becomes active in the Tread Trainer program he or she is equipped to present the Tread Lightly! message to other educators, clubs, employees, visitors, enthusiasts or community members.
The Tread Trainer program was recently highlighted by the National Forest Foundation as a key aid in confronting the threat of unmanaged OHV recreation to public land. Tread Lightly! also now offers a water recreation Tread Trainer course. Enthusiast club members, tour guides, safety trainers, and land managers from all over the country have been trained and are proclaiming the program’s crucial value in today’s recreation issues.

Restoration How Tread Lightly! Can Help You
Part of Tread Lightly!’s mission is to empower generations to enjoy the outdoors responsibly through stewardship. We work to help ease the billions of dollars in backlog of needed maintenance and repairs to federal and state land.
RESTORATION FOR RECREATION
To accomplish this, Tread Lightly! established its Restoration for Recreationä program in 1997. Since then, Tread Lightly!, its government partners, industry, and non-governmental partners, along with the sweat of volunteers have been transforming damaged and degraded areas into enjoyable recreation resources. The program also educates the public about outdoor ethics to minimize future impacts.
Unique by design, Restoration for Recreation generates capital from the private sector at a time when government recreation budgets are in intensive care on life support. Tread Lightly! and its partners match funding with public agency resources to rehabilitate dilapidated recreational facilities into environmentally and economically sustainable areas of beauty and enjoyment for generations to enjoy. FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES
Tread Lightly! is looking for short concept papers demonstrating potential projects throughout the National Forests. If you have trails, roads, parking and staging areas and other facilities used for OHV recreation, this a great opportunity to link up with potential funding for restoration through Tread Lightly!. Although there is no money available yet, the concepts you send will be used in a proposal package to show potential sponsors.
Please email your concept papers or mail them to:

CFC Donations Help Support Our Cause: CFC #10000
The United States undeniably has some of the most gorgeous and inspirational landscapes in the world. But Americans are losing them. Favorite trails are closing from the lack of land management resources. Rivers and streams are slowly being destroyed by uneducated recreationists. The backlog of needed maintenance and repairs to our national forests is climbing into the multi-billions of dollars.
If your workplace participates in the Combined Federal Campaign, you can make payroll donations to Tread Lightly!. With your help, Tread Lightly! empowers the public to enjoy the outdoors responsibly through education, training and restoration initiatives designed to remedy current recreation issues and instill an ethic of responsibility in recreationists.
Please contribute. Even small donations can make a big difference. Combined Federal Campaign.
